In 2009, a lawyer, a landscape architect, two bankers, and a computer enthusiast came together, realizing that beer was a venture worth their time and dedication. This unique blend of expertise formed the foundation of Legal Remedy, a brewery born from a collective desire to craft quality beverages that would captivate the taste buds of beer enthusiasts.
The journey began modestly with the crew participating in homebrew competitions, honing their skills and refining their recipes. As their creations gained acclaim and popularity, the team decided it was time to take their passion to the next level – to go legal. In pursuit of this goal, they obtained a license from the Federal government, marking the official start of Legal Remedy Brewing.
The pivotal moment came in 2014 when the first legal batch of Legal Remedy beer hit the market. This marked not only a milestone for the team but also the commencement of a journey towards providing beer lovers with a unique and flavorful experience. The response was overwhelmingly positive, encouraging the team to take the next step in their brewing odyssey.
Nine months later, in a strategic move to further immerse themselves in the craft beer scene, Legal Remedy Brewing opened its doors on Oakland Avenue. The brewery became a physical manifestation of the team’s dedication, showcasing their commitment to creating a space where beer aficionados could gather, savor unique brews, and revel in the camaraderie of the brewing community.
While a few details are deliberately omitted, the story of Legal Remedy Brewing is fundamentally an American tale. It’s a narrative of individuals with diverse backgrounds and professions uniting under a common goal – to create something extraordinary. This collective spirit, coupled with a passion for brewing, has become the driving force behind Legal Remedy’s success.

Greetings, Friends!
We’re excited to share that Legal Remedy Brewing is still fully operational, brewing your favorite beers at our original location in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Our brewery is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, and we’re offering six-packs and sixtels directly from the back of the brewery. We’re also thrilled to announce that we’re working on opening our very own taproom early next year at the back of the brewery / Canningline Building, so you can sit and enjoy our brews right where they’re made!
In other exciting news, our food and restaurant operations have been handed over to The Journeyman, Operated by longtime restaurateur Mark Murphy, The Journeyman serves classic Irish comfort food with Murphy’s own recipes, bringing your mouthwatering favorites to life right in the heart of Rock Hill. Located in the former Legal Remedy Taproom, The Journeyman offers classic Irish and American comfort food. You can still enjoy three of Legal Remedy’s most popular beers on tap along with a selection of other popular local breweries, whether you’re grabbing a beer on the go or pairing it with one of The Journeyman’s delicious dishes.
