Well I just finished a long day in the class for draft systems. I was excited when I answered a question and won a faucet! We talked about all sorts of things, including how you have to balance your draft system out to get the best pour. It did get a little tricky when we started doing math, but Scott and David from Micro Matic did a great job explaining it. They also had lot of funny stories about what not to do. Clearly they have seen a lot of different systems in their career.

I meet up with Chad who flew in this afternoon. Our friends in the NC Brewers Guild invited us to their Happy Hour at Lucky Pie Pizza & Taphouse, where we got to see Carli and Lybbi from Bold Missy Brewing. We also ran into the crew from Atlas Copco, an air compressor company that are our neighbors down in Rock Hill, SC. We had fantastic pizza and great beer. Chad had an Rino from Epic Brewing Company and I enjoyed an Escape to Colorado.

We then went to to the opening reception for the Craft Beer Conference at the Denver Conference Center (the building with the big blue beer looking in). On the way in we met up with Paul Gatza, the Senior VP of Professional Brewing Division with the Brewer’s Association. We discussed getting the CBC to Charlotte, NC – wouldn’t that be great?!

Next it was time to enjoy some bites and beers. What a fun crowd and I found a few guys I know well…the LRB Brew Crew. We shared info on the classes we are going to tomorrow and enjoyed a s’more.
